Library Computer Access Enlarged

Funds from the new passport program, aid from The Friends of the Library, and coordination
with the "Make it and take it" program enabled the movement of the present computer system
along with eight new computer stations to a new central location.  Working with the new reservation
system, these additional public access computers are expected to greatly improve the public's
access to the internet.  New furniture stations, and software operating systems were added.  The new layout should be more effective and brings the library close to the recommended standards for public computer access.
Library Friends purchase new equipment

Reference Librarian Deidre Wright trains reference volunteers on new computer reservation system purchased for the library by The Friends of the Library.  This new computer automation system will allow a more efficient usage of the library's public access computers.  Reservation of computer time is achieved by entering your library card number (visitor cards will be available for non-residents)  Computer reservation system will also give a definite log-on times  The automated system also permits more effective use of on-line printing and is expected to give the  reference staff  more time to  answer public questions. The Friends of the Library have budgeted over $85,000 this year in support of the library.

A digital projector mount  and quality sound system for the library meeting room greatly enhances the public films, presentations, and meetings held.  The Library's meeting room is "booked" almost every hour and day of the week with Children's, Young Adult and public programs.  This new equipment greatly extends the library's ability to present movies,  and educational programs.

By purchasing much needed technical equipment not within the library's budget The Friends of the Library greatly enhances the library's service to the public of Flagler County.                                   Library staff and members of the Friends are trained in the new equipment
